Well as the season winds down for Grave Diggers, I have decided to add a few things to the Photo Galleries. Just a few pictures of the events from this year as well as News Clippings that I have gathered. Check back often in the News Clippings, I just need to scan some more and they will be up.

As our events finish out for the year, we have openings for events on the last weekends in October, what better way to celebrate a Saturday Halloween then having an over the top party! And letting Grave Diggers help with the decorations, and the show! So if your interested please contact us and we will be there!

Church removes 'scary crucifix'

The 1960s sculpture of Christ is made of coal dust and resin

A large sculpture of Christ on the cross has been removed from outside a church in West Sussex after its vicar said it was "scaring young children".

The Reverend Ewen Souter said the 10ft crucifix was "a horrifying depiction of pain and suffering" which was also "putting people off".

The sculpture, located at the side of St John's Church in Broadbridge Heath, has now been given to Horsham Museum.

It will be replaced with a new stainless steel cross.

In a survey carried out by the church, every comment about the sculpture was negative.

'Sense of hope'

Mr Souter said: "Children have commented on how scary they find it and how off-putting they find it as a symbol outside the church.

"As a key exterior symbol for us it was putting people off rather than having a sense of hope and life and the power of the resurrection."

He said rather than undermining the work of the cross, the church wanted to portray "an accurate biblical picture of the crucifixion as a moment of hopefulness for the world, and not one of despair".

The sculpture was designed in the 1960s by former Royal Society of British Sculptors president, Edward Bainbridge Copnall, and made out of coal dust and resin.

It was removed from the church just before Christmas and will be mounted on a large wall in the grounds of Horsham Museum.

Jeremy Knight, curator, said the powerful image portrayed by the figure was that of Christ in pain.

"That today isn't an image which a lot of churches want to follow. They'd much rather see an empty cross where Christ has risen," he said.

What's Diggin'?

Well I have been extremely busy (these graves don't dig themselves you know) and have not had the time to devote to the site that I was hoping for. So that means that the site has stayed pretty static, which is not what I want. But who cares what I want, other than me that is, I want to know what you want.

Please comment and let me know what you would like to see this site do. With Squarespace anything is possible, and I mean that!

New Changes

If you have been around the site before, you might have noticed a few changes lately. We had some trouble with our previous host so have moved to a new host (SquareSpace) and I have split off the domain from the host, so if we lose hosting I should be able to still direct the domain to something.

In the move I cleaned up the site a bit, added new photo's, and lowered the overall number of pages. Now because of how SquareSpace is set up any changes I make show up in real time, so you may occasionally see changes in the site that come and go.

Please bear with me because I will be making changes as free time allows. If anyone has any suggestions for the site, please send them to matt@gdentertainment.net

And keep an eye out for a new site for the Renegade Actors Guild, the new site will be mostly for the use of the Actors and have a very minor public side.
